The trade ME-QR publishes, and most comparisons miss
Disclosure: EZQR publishes this page and sells a competing product. ME-QR figures below were read from their own pricing page in August 2026.
ME-QR gives away more than almost anyone in this category. Unlimited free QR codes, including dynamic ones, which most vendors cap at three to ten.
The cost is printed on the same page, in a row headed "Advertising".
Against Free it reads "All QR codes with ads". Against Lite, "1 ads-free QR code (in total)". Against Premium, "All QR codes ads-free".
So the exported QR image is clean. The scan is what carries the advertising on the free tier. Someone who scans your code meets ME-QR's advertising before reaching your destination.
That is not hidden, and ME-QR deserves credit for stating it plainly on the pricing page rather than burying it in terms. It does mean the free tier is unsuitable for anything customer-facing, and entirely reasonable for internal or personal use. The watermark comparison covers the three different things vendors hide behind that word.
Verified pricing, both platforms
Every ME-QR figure below is from their published pricing page, checked August 2026. Prices change, so confirm before buying.
| EZQR | ME-QR | |
|---|---|---|
| Free dynamic codes | 3 | Unlimited |
| Ads on free scans | None | "All QR codes with ads" |
| Watermark on the code image | None on any tier | None found |
| Free scan cap | None | Not published |
| Entry paid tier | $5/mo (Lite), 25 dynamic | $9.99/mo, or $6.08/mo yearly |
| Next tier | $10/mo (Pro), 100 dynamic | $15.99/mo, or $8.67/mo yearly (Premium) |
| Top tier | $20/mo (Max), unlimited | Premium |
| Ads-free at entry paid tier | Not applicable, never any ads | 1 ads-free code in total |
| Billing | Monthly on every tier | Monthly or yearly |
Tips
- Read the Lite row carefully. One ads-free code in total is not one ads-free code per month, so a business needing several clean codes is looking at Premium.
- ME-QR yearly pricing is a genuine discount, at $6.08 against $9.99 monthly. EZQR offers no annual discount, which is the trade in the other direction.
A correction to this page
An earlier version said ME-QR stamps watermarks on free codes.
We could not substantiate that. ME-QR's pricing page documents advertising, and says nothing about a mark on the code image. Inspecting their material turned up no watermark claim either.
So the claim is gone rather than softened. The documented trade is the interstitial, and that is enough to make a decision without inventing a second one.
The same version also gave a precise count of supported QR types for both platforms. Those numbers were not verifiable at the time of writing and have been removed. What is fair to say is that ME-QR covers some payload types we do not, including certain wallet and messaging formats, and we cover some it does not. If a specific payload matters, check it on both before deciding, because a type count tells you nothing about whether the one you need is present. Our WiFi and vCard pages cover the two payloads people most often assume are supported everywhere.
We are flagging both corrections rather than editing quietly, because a comparison page written by a competitor should be held to a higher evidence standard, not a lower one.
Where each one fits
Internal or personal use, many codes, zero budget. ME-QR free. Unlimited dynamic codes for nothing is a genuinely strong offer, and if the people scanning are you and your colleagues, the advertising is an annoyance rather than a business problem.
Anything customer-facing. The interstitial is the deciding factor. A guest scanning a restaurant menu or a customer scanning packaging should reach your content, not an advertisement. That is either ME-QR Premium at $15.99/mo, or a platform with no ads at any tier.
Small volume, customer-facing, budget-conscious. EZQR free covers three dynamic codes with no ads and no scan cap, which suits a single-location business. Lite at $5/mo takes it to 25.
You want an annual discount. ME-QR at $6.08/mo billed yearly is real. We do not offer one, so if committing a year up front is comfortable and the ads-free requirement is met at your tier, the arithmetic favours them.
You need a payload neither of us obviously covers. Check both. Our crypto page and the wider type list show what we support, and the full generator comparison covers the rest of the market.
What to check before you switch either way
Migration between QR platforms is not free, so it is worth being deliberate.
Printed codes do not move. A printed dynamic code contains a short URL on the original vendor's domain. Switching platforms means recreating codes and reprinting anything already in circulation. What transfers is the list of destinations, via export.
Test the scan, not the image. Generate one code on the free tier, print it, and scan it with a phone that has never seen it. Watch everything between the scan and your page. This is the only way to experience an interstitial as your customer will.
Ask what happens on cancellation, in writing. We have not verified ME-QR's post-cancellation behaviour and will not state one without a source. For our part: a lapse leaves the three oldest dynamic codes redirecting and pauses the rest until you resubscribe, with nothing deleted and short URLs preserved. The dynamic generator comparison has the five questions worth sending any vendor.
Check whether you need dynamic at all. If your destinations never change, static codes from a free tool have no subscription, no ads and no vendor in the path. The static versus dynamic guide resolves that in a couple of minutes, and it takes both of us out of the decision.
