EZQR vs Canva QR Code Generator

TL;DR

Canva creates both static and dynamic QR codes, exports PNG, JPG, SVG and PDF, and lets you customise colour, corners and patterns. Two things sit behind Canva Business or Enterprise: removing the default Canva logo from the code, and QR Code Insights for scan counts, device and location data. EZQR has no logo on any code including free, gives scan analytics from $5/mo, and covers content types beyond a web address such as WiFi and vCard. If you already live in Canva and are on Business, its generator is genuinely sufficient.

Key Takeaways

  • Canva creates static and dynamic QR codes. Older comparisons calling it static-only are out of date, including an earlier version of this page.
  • Canva places a default Canva logo on the code. Removing it and using your own icon requires Canva Business or Enterprise.
  • QR Code Insights, covering scan counts, device data and location data, also requires Canva Business or Enterprise.
  • Canva exports QR designs as PNG, JPG, SVG or PDF, so vector print output is available.
  • Canva's generator takes a web address. For WiFi credentials, vCard contact data or payment payloads, you need a dedicated QR tool.
  • We could not verify Canva's USD pricing: canva.com/pricing serves local currency from our location, so this page quotes no Canva dollar figure rather than guessing one.

Correcting the record first

Disclosure: EZQR publishes this page and sells a competing product. Canva behaviour below was read from canva.com/qr-code-generator in August 2026.

An earlier version of this page said Canva's QR codes were static only, URL only, with no analytics and no pattern customisation. That was wrong, and it stayed wrong long enough to be worth saying plainly rather than quietly editing.

Canva's own product page opens with the line that it creates static or dynamic QR codes. Dynamic codes can have their destination changed after the code has been shared. The generator customises colour, corners and patterns. Designs export as PNG, JPG, SVG or PDF.

So the real comparison is narrower and more interesting than "Canva cannot do this."

What Canva gates behind Business

Two things, and both matter more than a feature checklist suggests.

The Canva logo sits on your code. Canva's page states that removing the default Canva logo and uploading your own icon requires Canva Business or Enterprise. On lower tiers, every code you print carries another company's mark. That is a watermark in everything but name, and it is the single biggest difference between the two products for anyone printing customer-facing material.

Scan data requires Business or Enterprise. QR Code Insights, described as scan counts, device data and location data, is a Business and Enterprise feature. Below that tier a dynamic Canva code is editable but not measurable, which removes most of the reason to use a dynamic code at all.

EZQR puts no logo or watermark on any code, on any tier, including free. Scan analytics start at $5/mo with country-level data, and city-level arrives on Pro at $10/mo. That is the comparison that actually decides this, rather than the static-versus-dynamic argument the older version of this page was having.

Where Canva is simply better

Canva is a design platform with a QR feature. We are a QR platform with basic design. That difference runs in Canva's favour more often than we would like.

If the QR code is one element inside a poster, a menu, a social graphic or a pitch deck, Canva does the whole job in one place. You are not exporting an asset from one tool and importing it into another, and the layout tools around the code are far beyond anything we offer.

If your organisation already pays for Canva Business, the logo gate and the analytics gate are both already open. At that point Canva's generator is genuinely sufficient for most marketing work, and adding a second subscription for QR codes would be hard to justify.

Canva also has the larger asset library, brand kits, team collaboration and print fulfilment. None of that is a QR feature, and all of it matters if the QR is going onto something you are also designing.

Where a dedicated QR tool wins

Non-URL payloads. Canva's flow asks for a web address. A QR code can also encode WiFi credentials so a guest joins a network without typing a password, vCard contact data that saves straight to the phone, an email with a pre-filled subject, or a payment payload. Our WiFi generator is the common example: a cafe wanting guest WiFi on a table tent cannot do that in a design tool.

Logo-free output without a Business subscription. Covered above, and it is the practical blocker for small businesses and freelancers on Canva Free or Pro.

Analytics at a lower tier. Country-level scan data from $5/mo rather than a Business plan.

Error correction and scannability control. We validate that a styled code still decodes and lift error correction when a logo is embedded, which is the difference between a code that scans in a dim restaurant and one that only scans on your monitor. The error correction explainer covers why that matters at print size.

Codes independent of a design document. An EZQR code is a standalone asset with its own dashboard entry, destination and history. A Canva QR lives inside a Canva design.

On Canva pricing, and why there is no dollar figure here

Canva publishes Free, Pro, Business and Enterprise tiers, priced per person and billed annually, with Enterprise on request.

We are not quoting a Canva price in dollars. Loading canva.com/pricing from our location returns figures in local currency rather than USD, so any dollar number we printed would be a conversion or a guess dressed as a fact. That is the same reason this figure has been absent from our competitor audit rather than estimated.

Check canva.com/pricing yourself for your region. The number that matters for this comparison is the Business tier, since that is where the QR logo and the scan insights unlock.

One detail from the same pricing page worth knowing if you use short links alongside QR codes: custom short links are limited to 5 on Pro and 100 on Business, and unlimited on Enterprise.

For what this category charges across the board, the cost breakdown covers verified pricing across the dedicated QR tools.

Which to use

You are on Canva Business or Enterprise. Use Canva. The gates are open, the design tools are better than ours, and a second subscription buys you non-URL payloads you may never need.

You are on Canva Free or Pro and printing customer-facing material. The Canva logo on the code is the problem. Generate the code elsewhere and import the SVG into your Canva design.

You need WiFi, vCard or payment codes. A dedicated tool, ours or another. This is not something a design platform does.

You want scan data without a Business plan. EZQR Lite at $5/mo, or any of the alternatives in the full generator comparison.

You want free static codes with vector export and no account. QRCode Monkey, which beats both of us on that specific job.

The combined workflow still holds and is what most people should do: make the code in a QR tool, download the SVG, drop it into the Canva design. You get the layout tools and a code with no other company's logo on it.

FAQ

Can Canva create dynamic QR codes?

Yes. Canva's QR code generator creates static or dynamic codes, and you can change a dynamic destination after the code has been shared. Comparisons stating that Canva is static-only are out of date, including an earlier version of this page.

Does Canva put its logo on QR codes?

Yes, by default. Canva's product page states that removing the default Canva logo and uploading your own icon requires Canva Business or Enterprise. If you are printing customer-facing material on Canva Free or Pro, that mark travels with every code.

Does Canva show QR code scan analytics?

On Canva Business and Enterprise. QR Code Insights covers scan counts, device data and location data, and is not available on Free or Pro. EZQR includes country-level scan data from $5/mo and city-level from $10/mo.

Can Canva make WiFi or vCard QR codes?

Canva's generator asks for a web address, so WiFi credentials and vCard contact payloads are not part of that flow. Those need a dedicated QR tool. A WiFi code lets a guest join a network without typing the password, which is a common request a design platform does not cover.

Can I export a Canva QR code as a vector for printing?

Yes. Canva exports designs as PNG, JPG, SVG or PDF, so vector output is available for print. That was a genuine gap in older comparisons and is no longer one.

How much does Canva cost?

Canva publishes Free, Pro, Business and Enterprise tiers, priced per person and billed annually. We are not quoting a dollar figure because canva.com/pricing returns local currency from our location, and converting it would be a guess presented as a fact. Check their pricing page for your region, focusing on the Business tier, since that is where the QR logo and scan insights unlock.

Should I use Canva or EZQR for QR codes?

If you are already on Canva Business, use Canva. If you are on Canva Free or Pro and printing anything customer-facing, generate the code separately to avoid the Canva logo, then import the SVG into your Canva design. If you need WiFi, vCard or payment payloads, you need a dedicated QR tool either way.
